A little baking; a little bonding. Bobbie Lloyd, founder of the delectable Magnolia Bakery, shares her recipe for fun baking with junior chefs.
Get creative
For Valentine’s Day, instead of going with traditional hearts, make a sweet statement by including everything from lips to eyes with big lashes. Decorate with sanding sugar and sprinkles in crazy colors and shapes.
Equip them
Give kids baking utensils for their small hands. To make a mini pastry
bag, cut the corner of a plastic ziplock bag, fill with icing and seal.
Keep them entertained
While cupcakes bake, decorate paper chef hats with cutouts or place stickers on boxes to hold the cupcakes.
Let them do it
Kids can adorn cupcakes by writing or making polka dots and squiggles with their pastry bags. Encourage them to manage their own cleanup.
