If the thought of offering fresh-cooked, healthy meals to your family on work nights is sweat inducing, you need a plan-ahead solution, says Kathy Kaehler, creator of the Sunday Set-Up online club (sundaysetup.com).
Have a foodie weekend. Check out your fridge, freezer and pantry on saturday or Sunday. Toss expired items, and clean out containers to fill them with food you’ll bring back from the grocery store. Make a menu. If you scramble after work to get meals on the table, try creating a weekly dinner plan along with a grocery list for weekend shopping. Be sure your dishes include healthy ingredients. Prep your produce. To make weeknight cooking easier, pre-wash veggies and store in glass containers so they’re ready for you Monday through Friday. If cut-up broccoli florets await in the fridge, you won’t think twice about tossing them into the chicken stir-fry. Then simply let your kids veg out!
