Quick and easy ways to shape an eco-friendlier a.m.
1. Quick Compost
Toss breakfast remains—clementine peels, coffee grounds—into an indoor compost bin. A couple of months’ worth of compost will yield a nutrient-rich soil for houseplants and veggie gardens—and ease landfills.
2. Unplugging
As spring days warm you up, be sure to turn down the thermostat and unplug small appliances (and smartphone chargers) before leaving the house. You’ll see savings in both energy and electric bills.
3. Water Works
Instead of soaking your lawn for hours, turn on sprinklers while you shower. Timing watering to bathing time not only saves hundreds of gallons of H2O, it wets your grass in the a.m. hours when water is best absorbed.
