The child of parents who did not graduate from high school, Amanda Coleman was the first in her family to receive both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. She is now well on the road to receiving her PhD from Capella University.
Amanda’s parents, despite their lack of degrees, instilled in her the importance of education, and she has taken their advice to heart – on many levels. In addition to being in school, Amanda is a teacher, herself. She also provides workshops for minority girls, ages 8 – 18, which encourage them to continue their education and receive a college degree.
Read more of Amanda’s story and her tips for integrating an online education into an already demanding career in an upcoming issue of Working Mother.
