Executive Editor, Working Mother

Barbara Turvett is the executive editor of Working Mother magazine, where she's integrally involved in the magazine’s and website's editorial viewpoint, planning and management. She oversees and edits women’s, family and work life content, top edits all content for every issue and edits original content for the website. Barbara has worked in the women’s, health, parenting and work life areas of magazine, online and other print journalism for 20 years. She's written and edited for many national publications, including Parenting, Parents, Child, Family Circle, Good Housekeeping, American Baby, Weight Watchers and Men’s Fitness magazines, to name some. She began her editorial career at McCall’s magazine and has been involved in online content planning, writing and editing for several publications’ websites. Barbara has edited two award-winning child-development books, and she's written a health book and edited several cookbooks for Weight Watchers Publishing. She represents Working Mother in broadcast and print media and as a speaker at work/life and parenting conferences and events. Prior to her life in publishing and journalism, Barbara was an actress and singer who performed internationally in theatrical productions, on TV and in film, and in nightclubs and on cruise ships. Barbara actively supports the adoption, education, music and Asian-American communities in Greater New York and serves as board secretary for the French-American School of Music. She lives with her husband, Edward Pauly, their teenage daughter, Alexandra, and their pet cockatiel in New York City.
