Too Much Passion and Intensity=Emotional Train Wreck

I used to think that the combination of passion and intensity for the right thing could only be a good thing, but I was proven wrong…again. Why? Because what I think is right doesn’t make it right. Sounds like a good title for a Dr. Seuss book. Let me say it again because the more times I utter it out loud or in the written form, the more immune I become to it.

Gaming Moms, Yep that's your StyleDIVA
Thanks so much to Lolita Lopez and the crew at NBCLA as well as the Mom Central team for selecting me for this opportunity. It was more then uber fun it was outrageous! Check out my interview and see how I have been gaming for years now and consider myself the OG (Original Gamer) in our household. Although Kyle will have you think differently. I loved that she used the kids in the interview too!

Becoming a blogger

Becoming a blogger

When I learned I was approved to become a blogger for Working Mother Magazine I did what most people do with big news: I posted it to Facebook. I was grateful for the support of my Facebook friends and family. I consider myself a writer, and have thought many times about creating a blog. The allure of getting exposure to Working Mother readers is preferable to a Blogger account and I welcome the discipline of producing one to two blogs a week, every week.

Yelp.com and Parenting Promises

The Penn State Debate Continues . . .

After posting a blog, Parenting Promises, I decided to start a conversation on Yelp.com because it has always been a great place to find controversial views from outrageous and sometimes extremely articulate and smart people.   True to form, I got what I wanted.

You didn’t tell me I had to be moral.

It’s interesting how outraged most people are by the Penn State sex scandal.  I’m outraged, too, and my outrage goes far beyond the boundaries of the university.

Reach for the Moon–but not in 4 Inch Stilettos

I was sitting at my local YMCA, waiting for my 4-year-old to start her gymnastics class. There she was in her leotard, leaping around the hallway, sipping water from the drinking fountain, and coming back to me for idle chit chat. We were alone in the hall for probably 10 minutes, when three middle-school aged (I'm guessing 12 or 13) girls came in and began to walk toward us. They all were in very tight, "skinny" jeans, their own bodies very thin. They all had long, straight, brown hair, two of them wore a decent amount of make up, one of them had braces.

A few weeks ago, I wrote a post called Learning the Facts About Food Labels.  I am a firm believer in educating yourself about the food you are feeding yourself and your family.  Many of us rely on food labels to tell us if our food is healthy, however food manufactures are trying to entice us
