Are you active or productive?

I have a very busy life.  Toss my daughter’s calendar of activities on top of my own and we are always on the go.  We are very active and we are productive when we are focused on our priorities.

My Fail-Safe Trick for Getting in a Home Workout With the Kids in the House

Posted on January 13, 2013

I have found the key to success for actually getting in a home workout with your kids in the house! I've named it "The Mystery Box for Kids." It comes in all shapes and sizes, but the premise is the same - it is a box full of highly-desirable play things and goodies that are otherwise off limits during any other portion of the day. Sound simple? It is, and that's the beauty of it. Let me tell you more.

Why Free Floating Anxiety Drives Me Crazy

Do you ever have times in your life when everything is going great yet you just have this nagging feeling that impending doom is on the horizon?  It’s like waiting for the other shoe to drop.  You aren’t quite sure where the problem will come from, but you are convinced there will be a problem.

That is Free Floating Anxiety.

Happy New Year...and look, your take home pay is Smaller!

Happy New Year all! I am glad that 2012 is over, not because it was bad, but because 2013 promises to be better than 2012. I'm an eternal optimist. I was actually READY to get back to work today, after being off for two weeks. I was well rested and ready to attack the day.

Who is Draining Your Emotional Energy?

Who is Draining Your Emotional Energy?

We all have people in our lives that have a tendency to drain our emotional energy.  It may be a family member, a child, our boss or a friend.

What I have come to understand is that everyone wants to be loved.  People do not come into our lives purposefully to drain us emotionally.  We allow it to happen.  I see two aspects of how this happens.

I can hear you now.  “I don’t have any secrets, that’s why I am reading this article!”  But here’s the truth: You actually have every answer you need to create Work–Family Balance in your life.

How do I know this?  I have worked with hundreds of women just like you, on this topic.  I have marveled at the ways in which working moms are able to shift into a balance that truly works for them as long as they let go of comparisons to other working mothers and commit to trusting their intuition.

Responding to the Call of Self-Love

What is Self-Love?

For me, Self-Love means that I am making my needs a priority in my life.

Society teaches women to put the needs of others in front of ourselves.  For years I did that.  Work came first.  When I married, my husband came first.  Then when my daughter was born her needs also came before mine.

Are you a CAVE Dweller?

Are you a CAVE Dweller?

There was an extended period of time in my life where I was a CAVE dweller.  We all know people that are.  CAVE is an acronym for Citizens Against Virtually Everything.  CAVE dwellers are the people that look at life as a glass that is half full and complain about it.  They complain loudly about the injustices that life has heaped upon their shoulders and have no problems letting you know about it.

That use to be me!

Always an ASSumption

This week I bought in one of my homemade, “Apple Brown Kelli” cakes to work as a special little holiday treat from me to all of my co-workers.  “This cake is good, who made it? Your father?” they all asked.  They could not believe that I actually baked the cake, and from scratch nonetheless.  I had to convince them that I made the cake, and yes, I do actually cook…and it’s even edible!
