Money Management and my 8 Year old...Help?

Okay, this is more of a "please help me" post as it is my opinion on a topic. My son will be 9 this summer, and after two years of living with my parents, a move that while strategic, has also given me heartburn, we are moving into our own home! With this comes New Rules, Chores, etc.

My son has been babied - I will be the first to admit, by me, my parents and a few of his relatives. He is the child of divorce and I moved him off the grid when he was 7 years old. But, ok - we've been here for two years and we need some rules. He has a piggy bank...and savings bonds.

Well,

Summer is around the corner. Except, if you live on an island as I do, summer is virtually around every corner. ALL. THE. TIME. However, here are a few of my no fail, works every time, get fit tips that I found that have not only work for me, but everyone else. If I do it for 3 months, I lose between 12-15lbs, which is perfect, because that is what I essentially put on between September and March :)

1) Drink Water - I replace virtually every drink with water - sparkling, room temperature, cold, with lemon/lime...whatever floats your boat. Just drink it.

Single Mom Leans into Juggling Act

Posted on April 10, 2013

Do you often look at the calendar and wonder how you’re going to get it all done? As a single mom of twin 15-year-old boys, I’m fairly adept at juggling life…work meetings, orthodontist appointments, basketball games or whatever else gets thrown my way.  In my new role as a consultant, however, I have the added twist of overnight travel. Recently, I was away from my family on business to NYC, Fort Worth and San Francisco over a two-week period.  The juggling act felt more like a circus act gone awry and my household had a bit of a meltdown...to say the least!

How many times have you written an email, text message or sent any message using a form of electronics; where the message was immediately sent, without spell check? When you look back at the message, you call yourself all sorts of grammatically challenged names. You laugh and may even send a message to append to the last message, with changes. You may even follow up with a phone call. In some cases you wish you never sent it.

A daughter may outgrow your lap, but she will never outgrow your heart.

How is it that as I find my own hormones waxing and waning I am perpetually subject to the radically unpredictable and unwieldy hormones of 2 teenage daughters?  That’s a rhetorical question of course because exactly 13 and 17 years ago respectively I willingly walked (so to speak) myself in to this life of hormonal captivity.

Desperations of a Wounded Mother

I have been compelled to write this post. I will be as respectful as possible and am not looking to be a martyr. I just have feelings, thoughts and insights that I would like to share, based on a recent local news event. Specifically, an old high school class mate that has allegedly committed murder-suicide on herself and two young children, ages six and seven.

Seclusion and Bliss in Orlando! Your own Magical Place near the World!

When one visits Orlando their first thought is not necessarily harmony or seclusion.  Orlando brings thoughts of theme parks, Disney Princesses, and for certain crowds, but how about a spa in Orlando.
