Breaking Up (With Your Girlfriends) Is Hard To Do

We've all had bad break ups.  The crying, the eating of ice cream, the refusal to eat because you're sick to your stomach, the guilt, the "What's wrong with me?" stage, the grief, and finally the slow crawl towards healing which can be derailed at any moment by a chance encounter with your ex and their new girlfriend. And ladies, I am not talking about some break up with a love interest.

Sequestrapalooza and You

Sequestrapalooza and You

Politics, like most everything else in life, is made to seem way more complicated than it actually is. Mostly because if we just realized our nation's capital is full of mean eight grade girls and brilliant nerds who still carry grudges against the "Big Man On Campus" we'd get a lot less worked up about the posturing and gaming that happens all day, every day in Washington, D.C.

Take sequestration for example. What is happening right now is the eqivalent of the President and Congress being stuck in a loveless marriage.

A World without FAFSA, Roommates and Academic Advisors?

“I’ve decided not to go to college.”
For those of you with high school age children, how do you respond to that? What goes through your mind?

When I heard it from my daughter last week, I felt…anxious. What do you mean you don’t want to go to college?? We have told her for many years now-as do most parents-that we will support her and be proud of any career she chooses as long as she is passionate about it and as long as she is willing to work tremendously hard to do it well. Whatever “it” was.

Out to Lunch {for five months}!

Hello out there in blog land! It's been a long...LONG time, hasn't it?! Hopefully you've missed reading my musings at least a little. I know I certainly have missed sharing my nonsense with all of you!

Life has been beyond crazy for this mama! We uprooted our family, moved in with my parents, started new jobs and are anxiously awaiting the completion of our new house. God bless my parents, they are saints for putting up with us {me, really}...but still, ANXIOUSLY awaiting...

Is it or Isn't it...that is the question.

So, my son is a little hyper. Errr, actually, that is a little white lie - he is extremely hyper, easily distracted, gets bored quickly, talks non-stop, is extremely impatient and he DOES NOT LISTEN! I always thought he had one of those ADD/ADHD conditions- But I was always told that boys and girls are different and that all those symptoms I listed above were common in boys. BS. My son, drives me crazy, and apparently he drives the teachers and administrators at his school crazy as well. And his soccer coaches...you get the picture.

Why My Son's ADHD May Land Me In Jail

Why My Son's ADHD May Land Me In Jail

I know the exact moment I knew my son had ADHD. He was seventeen months old and I had been away from him for three days – the longest stretch ever in his young life. When I first saw him he came toddling over to me, I picked him up, and then the weirdest thing happened: he just stayed there. Yes he just stayed in my arms hugging me tightly. This couldn’t have lasted for more than 45 seconds but to a first time mom whose only child didn’t stop moving for even a nano-second I thought this is AWESOME! Then a split second later I thought uh-oh.

Hearts and Cupids all around for Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!

Since Be Positive Mom® has been around for a while now, I like to look back at past holiday posts and see what I was writing about a year or two ago.

Men Who Do Housework Get Less Sex, Study (Clearly Conducted By Men) Says

Nothing gets me hotter than walking into my house after a long days work, smelling the pungent aroma of Lysol, and marveling at sparklingly clean floors. A close second would be waking up in the morning to discover all of the week's laundry has been washed, dried, and folded.

Top 10 Ways to Avoid a Mama Meltdown

Posted on February 05, 2013

It happens to the best of us. We just have to get out the door, finish a load of laundry, send one last email or catch our breath for one second when our kids decide that this is the perfect time to freak the F out. So what's a mama to do? For most of us (The BadAssMama included), the typical answer is to match their freakout with a mama meltdown of our own. But, nine times out of ten this only serves to escalate the situation.

This was my daughter's weekend to-do list.  I hope that dance and play, play, play end up on your list this week!
