Mama, Did You See Her Heels?

I had an adorable run-in at the daycare drop-off this morning. While walking out there was a little girl, totally rocking her style, who was going in with her mom. While walking past me she said, "Mama, did you see her heels?" Love her! For full disclosure I was not wearing anything very remarkable, my typical nude Seychelles heels that go with everything, which I wear three out of every five work days.

Make Friends Through Running

The Olympics have the power to foster friendships between nations and showcase the world’s greatest athletes. Group runs and races can provide individuals with significant friendships as well as a healthier lifestyle. Recently the Editor of the “Glastonbury Reminder News” asked me and several other busy working parents who attend the free fun runs in town why we participate.

I had a panic attack at work, you see this is no excuse however; I have been very stressed out due to short staff and one staff member not carrying their weight in work, so you got two people carry work for a department of five.

My Search For The Perfect Jeans

When I told one of my fellow gym rats that I enjoy writing a blog about sports and education, and that I was thinking of also writing about shopping, he reminded me that shopping is an important sport too, especially for women.

Swimming Lessons, Life Saving Me-Time

After watching Savannah Guthrie dunk her hand into a cold tub as part of her interview with the author of Six Weeks to OMG, I was inspired to write about the benefits of swimming, especially swimming in cooler water. Why sit in a cold tub in order to lose weight, when I could actually exercise in cold water and build some gorgeous muscles as well?

It's okay to be alone....

My daughters are half way through high school. Gone are the days where I had to follow them every where! They are developing into respectable young ladies. The relationship I was in with their father went on so long that I may as well have married him! I basically have been on my own since then. Does being alone for too long give one the right to go out and mingle?  Will this person seem to crave attention for all the wrong reasons? Consider this before you make your decision.

Young Professionals Work the Red Dress Run in Hartford, CT

I have always been a silver lining kind of girl, so I was not overly discouraged today when my nagging tendonitis kept me from racing in the Red Dress Run.  Like so many other volunteers, I woke up at 5AM this morning in order to arrive in Elizabeth Park by 6:15AM.  From 6:30 to 8:30, I had the great pleasure of working with two fine young people in their twenties.

Running Through Sixty-Seven

In 1967 my father began his career as a math teacher and a running and baseball coach in the city of New Britain, Connecticut.  As a graduation present from Bates College, my dad received a loan from his father for his cream-colored, Camaro Convertible, which sported a black racing stripe. The price of the car was nearly 75% of  his salary from the ’67-’68 school year, so this purchase was a luxury in its day.
