You Make Me Blush

Okay, mamas!  Let’s talk about blush!  It’s nice to put a little color in your cheeks (especially if you’re like most mamas, and don’t get much sleep!) and it’s a great way to do a little something for yourself to look and feel good, without it taking a lot of time!  Pair it with a little lip gloss and voila!  You’ll look great in a short amount of time.  Here are some

Why Do We Insist on Wearing the Old Lady Sweater?

Why Do We Insist on Wearing the Old Lady Sweater?

As women, we spend a good amount of time in the morning on our hygiene routine and selecting that outfit to wear for the day.  We get to the office and about 30 minutes go by and we start getting chilly.  We then reach for that old sweater we always keep in the office and put it on and now we look frumpy!

What Happens to Me When I'm Not Perfect?

Do you struggle with trying to be the perfect woman?

I do.

Like most that struggle with perfectionism, I know it’s wrapped into my ego and insecurities.  I consciously know that I need to lighten up on my expectations of myself, but in execution it can be difficult.

Holiday Beauty With My Best Fashion Friend

My third holiday season as a mommy is upon me, and for the third year in a row I am rejoicing in my having the best fashion friend that a girl could ever have. Our complimentary outfits give me a sense of peace during this busy time of year. My daughter and I attended our local Italian American Society's Annual Children's Christmas party wearing shades of red, grey and navy. Our excitement for fashion usually spills over to the other girls whom we know.

Confession: Not Keeping Up Appearances

Posted on December 02, 2012

When will I learn? I’ve been working from home now for more than 7 years and yet I still manage to get caught out there looking pretty blah. I confess that I’ve fallen into a rut. I’m not keeping up appearances. I’m soooo comfortable at home when the kids are at school and my husband is at the office. I can work at my own pace...sipping on tea as I peck away at my computer, crunching numbers and sending out emails to the office. Most often I can be found sitting there with my hair undone, wearing ill- fitted pants and a frumpy tee shirt.

Kim Eiler, Inspiring Master Teacher of Real Literature

“Think Cold” reads the title of Marilyn Singer’s first poem about Humboldt Penguins, creatures who inhabit the hot, dry coastal deserts of Peru and Chile in her 2012 collection: A Strange Place To Call Home: The World’s Most Dangerous Habitats& The Animals That Call Them Home.  Although, “newly published poetry collection” and “State Standards” seem to be phrases at odds, bright teachers and children show how creativity lives among the standards.  Are you a parent or teacher worried that newly adopted public school learning standards will crush our children’s spirit a

Stepp'n Up Holiday Donations

There is something about the holiday season that prompts us to open our wallets and hearts to give to a charitable organization. Maybe it's related to the gratefulness that we feel when surrounded by a loving family in a warm home. Or maybe it's that the looming end to the tax year encourages us to meet the charitable contribution deduction limits. Whatever the reason, the season of giving is almost here.

Local Healer Expands Reiki Practice Near Glastonbury, Connecticut

I have always enjoyed listening to inspirational books during my commute to work. I never know when I am going to absorb and digest a bit of wisdom from this “self-help” genre.  Last month I listened to Lisa Oz’s book about relationships, called Us.  In her inspirational biography, Lisa described how as a certified Reiki Master, she is able to heal her children’s various minor ailments such as headaches, stomach aches, and temper tantrums, without having to give them any medicines which could have potential side effects.

After years of selling products for different companies such as Mary Kay; The Body Shop-Home Division and the every-elusive Avon, I have decided to try to sell my own products and or even start out by selling pastry.

Before embarking on a mini-reading-research project, I brought my narrative-loving two year old to high school for two twenty minute visits.  I ultimately want create something unique, but of value to other educators and parents.
