Is it possible to fit in exercise when you travel? Here are a few ways to not only make it possible, but easy as well.

Driving Aunt Sheryl

Driving Aunt Sheryl

Forget about Miss Daisy !  I, too have myself a driver.  Or at least I did over the Fourth of July weekend.  My fifteen year old nephew Matthew got his driving permit.  Never mind the fact that the boy announced his arrival to Easter brunch by pulling his mother's car into the middle of my front yard.  That was quickly forgotten as I settled myself into the passenger seat.  Having a "driver" frees me up to drink coffee, return text messages and turn around to monitor the bickering in the back row without breaking the law or chancing harm to anyone.  Grante

It's A Wrap

It's A Wrap

As a mom of four on a fixed budget, Bonnie Stromme looked to pinch pennies whenever possible. One day while packing lunches for her brood, she realized that she had more sandwiches on the counter than bags to wrap them in. So she did what any quick-thinking mom would do; she improvised. “I used a paper towel and masking tape to wrap up the remaining sandwiches,” says Stromme. While the idea essentially worked, the bread kept drying out.

Summer Slowdown

Summer Slowdown

I am fresh of a much needed mini-vacation...nothing but kids, fun in the sun and a few glasses of good wine. The cure for ALL that ever ails me!

Today I am left facing a mini-mountain of paperwork, 800 million emails and the nagging thought that I am forgetting something important.

Its our first no camp and no shool week of the summer - so I didn't forget to drop someone off or pick someone up.

I checked the calendar before Monday morning (or in this case, Wednesday morning) and did not uncover a dentist appointment or a playdate I forgot about.

8th Grade Promotion: A Chance to Learn From My Son and My Younger Self

Things changed since I grew up (wow – I sound like my parents – always surprises me when it happens).  I went to my eldest son’s 8th grade promotion recently.  I was struck by a few things.  First, going to high school was not a promotion when I was a kid.  Second, I am too young to have a high schooler. . or at least I feel that way.

Can't Control Emotional Eating? You're Not Alone!

When I was in high school, during exams, one of my girlfriends would be so stressed out from studying, boyfriend problems and lack of sleep that she would literally stop eating and immediately lose five pounds.  Unfortunately, I was just the opposite.  Stress, of any kind, seemed to make me react by reaching for a bag of potato chips or box of cookies for comfort.

Four Teenage Fishermen

Two days ago my father drove forty five minutes to pick up my thirteen year old man child son and three of his friends. He took them back to his house, where my mother was waiting for them.  Grandma and Grandpa then took the boys out to lunch.  I'm sure that was an experience, since all these kids seem to do is eat.  After lunch, they headed to the marina where my parents keep a fishing boat.  The four thirteen year old boys and two seventy something grandparents spent the afternoon fishing and tooling around on the lake.

Family Fun at the End of the Road

Sometimes, a family vacation begins at the end of the road.

This summer, how about hitting the road and heading north until the road ends....literally. Right at Voyageur National Park.

Taking 35 right out of the Twin Cities will take you all the way to MN 33 toward Cloquet.   33 becomes US-53N; keep heading north.  Orr is your last town before International Falls.  The town of Orr is only around 267 people, but offers a last stop to get groceries and staples.
