I continue to learn from and be taught by my daughter daily...and now apparently her friends. This weekend we had a great group of girls and boys over our house. Our home seems to be the main attraction, the magnet house that seems to draw them all in from near and afar. I have been told, on numerous occasions, that this is a good thing – which could be deliberated some evenings after a long work week. As I listened to the girls shriek with excitement while applying their third layer of bronzing sheen, I watched them all become a little anxious.
I’m standing here in my kitchen reading a message I received from a friend about how my book impacted her life. She said she had no idea how much I had gone through because I was always so full of light… As I thought about what she said, I began to think of the struggles and circumstances in my life and how I had decided to step out of being a victim to be being in charge of my happiness…
Hello Working Mothers!!!
I am sooooo excited that I finally get to write my blog. My background is a married mother of two little ones. I am from California born and raised.
In February of 2011 we decided to move to Texas for a number of reasons. One was how much more reasonable it was to live there versus California. Another reason was they have the best hospitals and much better school systems. So, we packed our things, hopped in the truck and took to the 10 freeway headed east. After 4 days of driving, yes 4 days, we do have 2 kids, we got to Houston. Eureka!!!

We are disillusioned to believe there is money to spend, if there is money in the checkbook.
Hey look, after all the bills, we still have $115 left… let’s go out for dinner!
Unless we are actively managing our money, this thinking can cause big problems. Like (more) debt, money arguments and worse yet, bankruptcy.

The idea of organizing finances with a pen and paper is so archaic. Paying for everything in cash, that’s history. Imagine if there were no credit cards or debit cards. No direct deposit. No marketing like nothing down and no interest ‘til 2015!
My guess is there would be a lot less debt among families.
With all of the hustle and bustle of the holidays winding down, a New Year is upon us. It's easy to want to close the door on the trials and tribulations of the past year. 2011 was not an easy year for us, however some really great things did happen. My husband and I got married and shortly thereafter found out that we were expecting our first child together. Though it seems desirable to usher out the old and fully embrace the new, I am hoping to take all good memories and learned lessons into 2012 with me.
