I Am A Working Mother. Viva La Revolucion!

How many pity parties have you had in the last week?  The last month?  By my count I’m up to about two full on “poor me” moments and about a half-dozen or so micro-moments.  Because it is hard!  No matter how funny and rewarding trying to raise a family and a maintain a career can be (yes, snot and dirty child sized hand prints on your new Anne Taylor suit are HILARIOUS) we still struggle.  We get down in the dumps.  We think to ourselves sometimes (gasp) ”what is the point?”

7 Tips for Relocating with Kids

How many times have you moved? Since my hubby and I were married in 2000, we moved about 10 or more times. Back and forth to Arizona plus several moves around the Bay Area. All without kids.

Freud's Mistress

Karen Mack and Jennifer Kaufman’s latest novel, Freud’s Mistress, is a compelling story surrounding Freud and his family that weaves fact and fiction.  This book is a re-creation of a very possible love affair between Sigmund Freud and his sister-in-law, Minna Bernays. Although many scholars dismissed it as ridiculous they have come to change their minds after the discovery of a glamorous Swiss hotel’s register where Freud signed in as “Dr.

The Truth About Stress

In my quest to be supermom , I have come to realize that I have not been taking my own advice.  Over the last year, I have had a lot on my plate.  With starting this blog, going back to school, working full-time, all while attempting to breastfeed exclusively, be a dance mom, and chase after my now toddler, I have been very overwhelmed and failed to admit it.  Thus, I learned the hard way that overloading my life (many times unnecessarily) has taken a toll on my mental and physical being.  So how did

Husband AND Co-Worker?

Husband AND Co-Worker?

Husband and Dad. Husband and Friend. Husband and Badminton Partner. But Husband and Co-worker?? The first ones I know well and am comfortable with, but the latter is a new “AND.” In a few days, my husband and I will be working for the same organization, in the same department, in the same building, next door to each other.

What do you think about that?

When I share this with others, I receive one of two responses.

“Oh boy, I couldn’t work with my spouse! I care about my marriage too much,” or “Oh, how wonderful! Your marriage is going to be so blessed and richer because of it.”

The Quest to be Supermom

As I reflect on everything that I have going on in my life at this moment, I have come to realize that my husband is right (I will make sure he doesn’t see this post LOL!) - I often put too much on my plate at one time.

Yes we all do it.   We all kill ourselves to gain that title of “Supermom”.  But really, who is Supermom?  What constitutes being in that role?  And most of all, who came up with this superficial character that makes moms like me feel like a failure when I don’t live up to her standards?

Are You Experiencing The Passion Shift?

Can you believe it? Summer's practically half over. And for many working moms it’s a continued juggle of work, family, life, kids out of school and trying to take care of ourselves.

I've spent the last few months tuning in to a deeper calling, a mission if you will.

Here’s what it is.

After working with countless moms in my business as The Entrepreneurial Working Mom, I've discovered that the work isn't just about building a business.

Have a Picnic Playdate. A Fun Way to Get Your Picky Eater to Eat!

Over the weekend, my hubby and I had some friends over for a little BBQ cookout, fellowship and an unintentional playdate.  When it came time for dinner, my 4-year-old proceeded to eat his turkey burger, in hopes of garnering that special treat for his after-meal dessert.  His best buddy looked over at how my son was happily consuming his burger, and curiosity got the better of him.  The next thing we knew, he was shouting, “Mama, I want a sandwich burger too.”
