Workmom blogger Sherice Torres just proved yet again what a “BadAssMama” she is. Torres has been selected as part of Home Media Magazine’s Hot List of “40 Under 40” home entertainment industry leaders for 2011, and we couldn’t be prouder.

If your kids love their Dora The Explorer or SpongeBob SquarePants DVDs, chances are, Torres had something to do with it. She’s responsible for a $3 billion+ global retail business as the Senior Vice President of Global Home Entertainment for Nickelodeon & Viacom Consumer Products, and balancing this with motherhood can only be chaotic, as you will read in her uncensored (“the hands-free breast pump bra-thingy is the BEST INVENTION EVER”), laugh-out-loud entries (“If you wake up my kids [after 8pm], you may end up on the 11 o'clock news.”) in workingmother.com.

What we love about this career woman is she keeps it real: despite rough weeks, cupcake binges, and hardly any sleep in between. 

And the reward has been great: Torres has been honored with a number of recognitions including being named one of Black Enterprise Magazine’s “100 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America” and “75 Most Powerful Women in Business”; Crain’s “Business Top 40 Under 40 List”; and among the “Most Influential Minorities” by CableFAX: The Magazine.

Any mom who balances a thriving career with another full time job at home can relate to Torres’s stories and snippets of enlightenment. Case in point: “We often sacrifice taking care of ourselves in the pursuit of career success and taking care of the ones we love. If you don't take care of yourself, you're no good to anyone.”
