Text For Your Health

Between the upcoming holidays and work deadlines, it’s not always easy to schedule a doctor’s appointment or even keep yourself abreast of the latest health news. Now all you have to do is simply check your cell phone. Text4baby, a free text messaging service, provides easy access to health info specifically tailored to your due date or your baby’s birth date.

The National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB) launched Text4baby, the first free health text messaging service of its kind in the U.S. (Johnson & Johnson is a founding sponsor.) Since the program’s inception in 2010, more than 250,000 registrants have received the Text4baby messages, which offer seasonal health tips as well as information on how to care for yourself during pregnancy and wellness advice for your new baby.

Earlier this month, a study completed in San Diego found that Text4baby had a significant impact on health behaviors: 71% of participants reported speaking with their doctor about a topic that they read on a Text4baby text message.

You can register at text4baby.org, or simply text the word BABY (or BEBE in Spanish) to the number 511411.
