Mom of Three Sherilyn McCoy Named CEO of Avon

Avon named Sherilyn McCoy its CEO this week, replacing longtime CEO Andrea Jung, ending a four-month search for a replacement. The mom of three comes from Johnson & Johnson, where she was employed for 30 years. During her time at the company, McCoy was a major force, heading the company’s work in internal medicine, biotech and virology—an over $2.5 billion unit.

If that isn’t impressive enough, McCoy holds five U.S. patents, and her co-workers credit her science background—she’s a chemical engineer by training—for giving her an edge. Working Mother named McCoy one of our Most Powerful Moms in STEM last year.

McCoy certainly faces some major hurdles at Avon, including a takeover bid from Coty, a lethargic stock price and a U.S. probe into overseas bribery allegations. McCoy will take the helm on April 23 and will also sit on the board of directors.
