Janet Robinson CEO of the New York Times Company To Step Down

Janet Robinson, the CEO of the New York Times Company, will step down from her post at the end of 2011. Robinson is the second major woman CEO to vacate her post this week (the other being longtime AVON CEO Andrea Jung, one of our Most Powerful Moms).

Robinson, a former elementary school teacher, has worked at the New York Times Company for 28 years. Under her leadership the New York Times Company was included on NAFE's 2011 Top Companies for Executive Women list. And during her tenure women reached new heights at the New York Times, most notably Jill Ambramson, a mom of two, who became the paper's first female Executive Editor in 2011.

No replacement has been named for Robinson.

We'll certainly miss Janet in this role—she's been a friend to Working Mother Media and NAFE.
