I looked back through my blog posts for the last two years and saw that several of them start with titles that contain the months of the year and other milestones I guess that’s how we mark our lives. So this blog is no different. It’s mid-January already, meaning the Christmas tree is long gone, the blush is off those heartfelt resolutions, and the 2012 calendar is already collecting dust.
But there is something about January that is invigorating. The plan for the year is laid out before us and we can start to chip away at new projects @home and @work. But what I look forward to most every year is the opportunity to connect with old friends and colleagues, and all the new folks I will meet through social engagements whether via my career or through our family.
For the kids, January is mid-term. Half the school year is wrapping up. They will get to start fresh. For college kids, the new semester will begin soon. And that may means making a move, returning to old friends and freshly cleaned dorms. It will truly be a new year for them.
Do you find this month a source of energy or a let down from the holidays?
By the way, here are a few of my milestone posts from the last two years.
Father's Day Weekend New Notes
It's the New Year! I mean September.
PS The photo of me was taken a BlogHer11 at the Twizzler's photo booth. I suppose 2012 will be another year of being social.

Being in education, my year
Being in education, my year starts at the end of August. This has been the flow of my life for as long as I can remember. I have to make a special effort to think of January as the start of a new year.
