Working for Children - Yours, Mine and Everyone's

Carolyn S. Miles is the first female President & CEO of Save the Children, a non-profit organization with the mission to inspire breakthroughs in the way the world treats children and to achieve immediate and lasting change in their lives.

She travels the globe as part of her work to improve the lives of children around the world, from school programs in South Carolina to health centers in Egypt to refugee camps in Kenya. But when she's not working on behalf of all children, she's attending to her own three kids. With a son in college, a son in high school and a daughter in elementary school, Carolyn's schedule is packed – but she always likes to connect with other moms to talk about how we can all make the world better for kids.

We all know that motherhood is a constant juggling act. Between sports practice, school activities, homework and our constantly-buzzing Blackberries, it’s no small miracle when we’re able to get dinner on the table. But just because things don’t always go the way we planned (ok, they rarely go the way we planned) doesn’t mean we can’t stop to enjoy a MomWin: those brief, shining moments when we get it perfectly, shockingly and magically right—or when you just have to laugh that it went wrong.

To that end, Save the Children is teaming up with some of the biggest names in the mom business—including Working Mother, Johnson & Johnson, Mattel and Brookstone, to name just a few—to celebrate everything that makes motherhood so fun, funny and rewarding.

Mom’s the Word is one big shout-out to motherhood and everything that makes it great. It celebrates the small victories, like slipping into the auditorium just in time for your daughter’s trumpet solo. Taking your kids to see a new and exciting place or event. Or making your toddler laugh so hard he gets the hiccups. And it also celebrates the moms that Save the Children works with around the world every day—moms who are the leading champions for their kids’ health, development, education and opportunity for a better life.
