What happened to Paula Deen?
The Food Network dropped her like something deep fried and smothered in butter. But her fans are defending her and still lining up at her restaurant.
Food Network Star Paula Deen has been kicked her off the Food Network Channel and Smithfield Foods have also severed all ties with Paula Deen.
They said “Smithfield condemns the use of offensive and discriminatory language and behavior of any kind. Therefore, we are terminating our partnership with Paula Deen, Smithfield is determined to be an ethical food industry leader and it is important that our values and those of our spokespeople are properly aligned.”
Deen has made 3 videos apologizing to everyone she has hurt and says that it was a long time ago. So if this was a long time ago why now is it getting brought up?
Everyone makes mistakes and some people are held to their mistake a lot more severely than others. So why is Paula Deen getting hit so hard with the media?
Many fans have talked about boycotting Food Network. It is not only Caucasians supporting Ms. Deen there was an African American standing right in front of the restaurant on Saturday waiting for it to open in Savannah, Georgia.
Ms. Green said that she came from being on vacation in New Orleans to Savannah to support Ms. Deen. Ms. Green said “I get it, believe me,” Ms. Green said. “But what’s hard for people to understand is that she didn’t mean it as racist. It sounds bad, but that’s not what’s in her heart. She’s just from another time.”
Many people say that Food Network took it too far to fire Paula Deen and that they made the decision to quick. Ms. Deen said in her apology “I was wrong, yes, I’ve worked hard, and I have made mistakes,” Ms. Deen said, “but that is no excuse and I offer my sincere apology to those that I have hurt, and I hope that you forgive me because this comes from the deepest part of my heart.” Click here to read more of the article.
