Hahaha…I kid you not. Yesterday, I received an email from my colleague and friend, and she made this statement: “Thanks for being you and processing work, life and stupid boys with me.” My daughter would not approve of the “stupid” part. Apparently, name calling is never appropriate to her, but this wasn’t at home, and I didn’t share it with my daughter so I’m in the clear.
The new year and new seasons of life always cause me to sink into a state of deep reflection about whether I am fulfilling God’ purpose for me. Am I serving Him and others? Am I making a significant impact at home, at work, in my community, in the world? So when a dear friend and colleague of mine sent this unprompted email, I could only smile and acknowledge that I maybe I am on the right track in life. I might not have changed the world this week as a leadership development specialist, but I did help a friend when she needed it.
That is more than enough. More importantly, I was PRESENT and didn’t try to give future advice or suggestions. I didn’t try to solve her life. I was just PRESENT. That is my one word goal for 2012 so I’m excited about the potential of having more PRESENT moments in the next coming months.
Dang. I just talked about the future again. On to the crucial question though.
At what age do boys stop being stupid?
