After the birth of her first son, CT certified English teacher and successful Social Media Marketer and Blogger, Julie began taking part in the Silk City Striders 2010 Wickham Park Cross Country Series. Now a mom of two, Julie found that this same Running Series jump-started her exercise routine. Although I’m familiar with Wickham Park, I had never taken part in this particular race before. I knew that it would be enjoyable to attend the event with another local teacher, writer and runner. Although Julie stayed active by walking and playing with her boys over the past two summers, this was the first time that she really pushed herself in a while. Next month we hope to make this a family play-date where our three year olds can play before the race. We are lucky that the Greater Hartford Area features many free and low cost running events that are scheduled during the week after work hours in the summer. For more information about the Manchester, Connecticut Race Series, please visit: www.silkcitystriders.org. Also, if you would like to take part in the last two Tuesday night fun-runs, starting at Glastonbury High School, visit www.glasct.org and look under the “Events” section. After meeting Julie and her boys at her deliciously sponsored, Hood Ice-Cream Event in beautiful Wickham Park, my daughter Annie and I were excited to get together again. Here I am with Julie of www.ayearwithmomanddad.com in Manchester, Connecticut looking nice and cool thanks to the ice-cream tasting. We look forward to sharing super-sweaty running photos next month.
