“It’s only hair you know,” I told my mother in law last week. She had agreed to watch my daughter during my hair appointment at the mall, even though she was helping her mother in law plan her father in law’s funeral. My daughter’s great grandpa, a WWII Naval Veteran had passed away a few days before my hair appointment. I was worried that my mother in law had sped from the church to the mall for the sake of my highlights. When she met me at Au Bon Pain, she was flustered but managed to say to my daughter, “Your mommy is going to be even more beautiful in a few hours, if that is even possible!” I cannot ever repay my parents and in-laws for the countless hours of entertainment they have provided to my daughter. Yes, I am very close to my daughter, and I love spending time with her, but I tell her that she is not the only one who is allowed to be pretty, and not the only one who gets to have fun. The day after great grandpa’s funeral, my daughter’s baptism had been scheduled. Since these ceremonies took place back to back, out of town relatives were able to attend the baptism. Thanks to a multi-tasking grandmother, both mommy and baby had pretty blond hair for both of these special events!
