Yeah. I lot has happened since I last shared my life with you.

You guessed it. That’s Altima (pronounced “Al-teem-aa” in Southern). Totaled and gone to that big junk yard in the sky.  Well, actually she’s been torn apart with pieces of her body dispersed abroad. I never would have imagined that our 10 year relationship would end this way.

It’s a long story that I care not to rehearse, but to sum it up in a few words: I was rushing and I crashed.

Of course I never made it to my destination. Looking back, being seven minutes late would have been just fine. But we never think of that in that fleeting moment. Adrenalin is pumping and pressure is mounting. Unwise decisions can abound.

Thank God I was in the car alone.

Thank God I walked away from the accident with only muscle aches.

I also walked away having learned an invaluable lesson. I’m slowing down. Not just behind the wheel, but in life. It took a crash for me to acknowledge the improper pace of my life with its ever increasing demands. I’m simplifying my life, first by cutting away activities not aligned with my top priorities. I dissolved the non-profit I founded, The Motherhood Priority, for example. Though it’s a noteworthy passion of mine to assist other working mothers in maintaining their motherhood priority, mothering my own children with their distinct needs takes precedence and is requiring more of me. I’m confident that I will be given a platform later to pursue this passion. Now just isn’t the time.   

You may be looking for me in the coming days. I’ll still be around. I just may not be recognizable to you outside a Tasmanian spin. I’ll be more focused, more resolved, and better.
