I am 45 years old married for 18 years with two children ages 6 and 11. I currently work as a contract attorney, which gives me a little flexibility, but no stability. My blog will focus around my children and how hard it is to be a working mom these days trying to juggle them and make a respectable income. Sounds familiar, but my perspective may be a little different because of our home life. My husband, who is retired military, works part-time in the early mornings, so he puts the kids on the bus and is home when they get home from school. I struggle with this situation because I would prefer to be home when they get home so I know they will eat a good meal and do their homework. My husband does it, but he just doesn't do it how I would. So I struggle constantly with what do I do? I have to work. How do I as a mother be there for my kids who get loopy if I work over 11 hours each day. How do I keep my spoiled daughter from getting overwhelmed in middle school? How do I explain bisexuality to an 11 year-old after her friend tell her she is? This is completely foreign to me and I think I am an older mom so I can just imagine what younger Moms are going through.
