Have you ever seen an item and immediately thought of a person ? It happens to me often. Last summer I bought a pair of earrings as a Christmas gift for my friend Anne Marie. I loved them, but they were more her than me, if you know what I mean. So I bought them for her, wrapped them up and put them on the shelf in my storage room, with the other ahead of season holiday gifts. Last week, at a Stella and Dot party http://www.stelladot.com/ I bought my daughter her first Christmas gift. It isn't wrapped yet, but it is on the ahead of season shelf. I'm pretty good at squirreling away my ahead of season finds.
Tonight, I was on one of my favorite websites, Getting Gorgeous http://gettinggorgeousevents.com/. I clicked on the word bag and saw a dream come true. A WINE PURSE ! A cylindar shaped, pretty good looking bag with a chain shoulder strap and little feet on the bottom, to prevent your wine bottle/purse from rolling around when you set it down.
Where has this been all my life ? I'm not a big drinker, but if I am going to drink, it is going to be a glass of wine, preferably a chardonnay. Good wine isn't always easy to come by. I can think of many, many times when a wine purse would have come in handy. I even love the name of it, wine purse ! Who wouldn't want a wine purse ?
When I stumbled upon the wine purse tonight, I instantly thought of my former neighbor. Having built our townhouse condominiums simultaneously, Rick and I as a young married couple and Molly as a single twenty something, we shared countless bottles of wine, waiting for the builder to actually finish the building we closed on way too soon. We had great fun. So much fun, in fact, that Molly was the first person that popped into my mind when the wine purse magically appeared on the screen in front of me tonight.
My intention when I added one to my cart was to stash it away and send it to her at Christmas. We usually banter clever gifts back and forth, so I was thinking it was going to be a good year this year, with the wine purse to send; way better than the art kits I sent to her kids last year. But I couldn't resist. I pulled her address up on my phone, typed it in and before I knew it the wine purse was on its way.
In my excitement to send my wonderful former neighbor the wine purse, I forgot to sign the card. I wrote something witty about Christmas in July and hit send. It worked out okay though, because I got to send her a witty text to watch for a mystery package, with its witty, unsigned enclosure card.
It will only add to the excitement of The Perfect Gift !
