Out of Body Experience Part Two

As I shared in an earlier post, I surprised myself recently by loving the experience of having my portrait taken by a wonderful local photographer, JocelynM http://www.jocelynm.com/

I typically don't do much just for myself.  Most of what I do is for my kids or for work, where I go an obligation or commitment.  I very seldom do something just because I want to. This photo shoot started out that way.  It was a commitment I made to my friend Anne Marie.  When logistics started getting in the way, the only reason I made the extra effort to get there was because I felt obligated.

All that changed once the photo shoot started.  My sense of dread (yes, I was dreading being photographed) and obligation quickly turned to excitement and pleasure.  Think about it....when is the last time someone gave you a glass of wine, worked over your hair and makeup, and spent half an hour telling you how gorgeous you are ?  Hmmmmm, maybe never ?   I certainly can't recall a time when that happened to me, prior to my photo shoot.  The joy I felt smiling for that camera was something I can't quite put into words.  I felt wonderful, appreciated and free to laugh and enjoy just sitting there, being me. Me having my picture taken for the first time since my sorority composite in college.

Take a look at one of the best of the photos from that night.  Look into the eyes of an overscheduled working mom, taking a few minutes out to do something just for herself.

A picture is worth a thousand words.

*Please note that no goods or services were received in exchange for this post.  I am just a satisfied customer who happily pays for her photos as everyone else does.*
