My daughter's 12th birthday extravaganza is in full swing.  Last night, dinner for seven in a private room at our club.   Ella's menu of choice ?  Salads with grilled chicken and ranch dressing, chicken noodle soup and baskets of french fries.  Dessert was lime green cupcakes, that matched the lime green table linens.  By all accounts it looked good, tasted good and a good time was had by all.

I brought the girls home for a sleepover.  They did do some sleeping, although it took multiple reprimands and reminders to get it quiet enough for the first one to nod off.  Once that happened, the rest followed suit.  It was just before 1 am when I last peeked at the clock.

I woke up this morning to prepare myself for the "Girls Just Want to Have Fun photo shoot" that was to be the highlight of the party.  As usual, I went to my phone to check for emails that had come in over night (my students love to work in the wee hours).  Much to my horror, my photographer was sick, really sick.  Because I care about her as a person, I was concerned.  But because I had six girls sleeping in my basement, anticipating a photo shoot, I was horrified !!!

I don't have to tell you that moms can do anything when we have to.  Including finding a second local photographer and getting the girls' photo shoot rescheduled all before 8 am on Saturday morning.  I'm pretty impressed.  Shout out to Ivette Gerstenschlager http://web.mac.com/ivettegersh/igersh/Welcome.html for pitching in for me last minute and shooting the girls today !  Thank goodness she's a working mom, too, who was up answering emails at 7am on Saturday.  

I wasn't about to let me daughter's birthday party plans be ruined. When it comes to making it happen for our kids, working moms don't mess around.  We just get it done !
