If You Want to Receive, You Have to Believe

My nine year old still whole heartedly believes in Santa Claus.I am thrilled about this, delighted that no one has ruined this piece of childhood for him yet.  I say yet because I know it will happen.  I'm pleasantly surprised that it hasn't happened yet.  Doing my part to keep this childhood fantasy alive and well, I threatened my thirteen year old within an inch of his life this year.  DO NOT ruin this for your brother !  Perhaps I should have been honest and said mother, too.  It brings me such great joy to watch the wonder and awe and see that little face light up when Santa Claus does his thing.  I will be sad when my last little believer moves from the wonder and awe of Santa to mom's mantra : If you want to receive, you have to believe.

Santa Claus is one childhood fantasy I'm not willing to let go of.  I know the time is near when my youngest, final believer will learn the ugly truth.  But I'm not going there.  Here in our home, we all live with the fantasy.  We all believe, because we want to receive.  Who doesn't want to wake up Christmas morning to a pile of presents delivered by Santa himself ?

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays !  Wishing you all the joy and wonder of this beautiful season.

My oldest daughter is 12 and just found out this year that Santa is a "fake".  It is possible to keep them believing!!  What kept it going that long for us was the post office!!  If you have your son write  a letter to Santa and address it to the North Pole, he will get a response from Santa himself!  Good luck keeping this up :)
