With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I have been thinking about everything I have to be grateful for. Healthy children, wonderful schools with compassionate educators, a wonderful husband who is commited to philanthropy, work and his "new job" as a football coach. My parents and in laws are well and independent, my dog brings joy to our household each day. I love my work and get pleasure each day from educating adult learners.
I am blessed.
All this being said, would you like to know what I am most grateful for this year?
THANKSGIVING VACTION!
My family, my sister and her kids and my parents will all be together in Florida for Thanksgiving this year. We have not done since there were just two grandchildren. Now there are seven grandkids. As the big ones get bigger, and closer to leaving the nest, our time as one big happy family is precious. Once the big boys leave for college, I know what happens. They have things to do other than sit around with parents, aunts and grandparents. They have parties to attend and friends to visit. They will want to spend time at home with their friends. I remember this. I am certain my mother does, too.
This time together at Thanksgiving will be precious. None of us are getting any younger. The big kids are getting closer to heading off to college. My parents are growing older. As much as I hate to admit it, my husband and I are well into middle age. We are blessed that time is treating us well, but I wish it would slow down a little bit.
This Thanksgiving I will give thanks for time with my family. I will enjoy this precious time together.
What are you thankful for this year?
