I have always been considered an organized person. I consider myself one, although not quite on top of my game as I used to be. As kids get older, the number of large plastic toys diminishes, but the quantity and size of their shoes and clothing increases dramatically. As does the amount of paper, pencils, school supplies, calculators and so on. As I write this I realize the organizational needs in my home have changed. I've done what I can to roll with it along the way, but staring the reality of life with three increasingly independent yet needy in a "can you drive me to (fill in the blank)" way children in the face makes me want to tackle the challenges head on. Just like the sorority president with color coded pens and notebooks would have done. Yes, that was me decades ago. Color coded and on top of my game, all the time. While most of that gal doesn't live here anymore, and that is for the best, the good parts of her are surely lurking in there somewhere, ready to rise to the challenge.
Feeling motivated and ready to enter the New Year in an organized way, I found an article in the Huffington Post that reminded me of some of the basics and got me thinking about good chi for my home and family in the New Year.
Happy reading and here's to a clutter free, organized 2012 !
