Family Vacation

We've been on a family vacation in sunny Florida during the kids' spring break from school.  The below will let you know just how much I enjoyed it.

I just took a nap.  On a chaise lounge.  At 10:45 in the morning. I guess I really am on vacation!  After getting up at 4 am to catch an early flight with a lay over, wrangling with children over who did and didn't get to or have to (depending on their age) sit by mom, and enduring excruciating traffic in the back seat of a rental car, it felt more like an exercise in exhaustion than a vacation. But the tides have changed......

Yesterday we all slept in.  We needed to after being up at 4 am the previous day. In the afternoon we rented a catamaran boat for a snorkeling expedition to some coral reefs.  Everyone participated, everyone really enjoyed it. Complete success !

This morning I went with Max and Rick to the gym. We all had a great workout, doing our own thing in the same space.  After that Rick and Max went out on stand up paddle boards for a couple of hours. The little two decided to run from the beach to the pool and this, magically, is where my nap happened.  I hadn't planned it, but when the little two ran off I laid my head back to enjoy the sound of the ocean lapping up to the shore.  Before I knew it, there was a wet boy shaking his wet head all over me.

What a way to wake up from a snooze in an ocean front chaise lounge; to a huge smirk on the face of a mischievous nine year old boy.

It doesn't get much better than that!
