The Attitude of Gratitude

I started saying Happy Thanksgiving yesterday at my children's school. I've been saying it ever since, but in doing so, I've taken pause to consider what  Happy Thanksgiving really means.  The beautiful mass my children were part of yesterday, gathering with my husband's , cousins and their children last night, baking pies with my daughter these are all a piece of the Happy Thanksgiving puzzle.  Loading the whole family, dog included, into the car to deliver Meals On Wheels to the elderly, is a large piece of the puzzle, too.  Meals on Wheels http://www.mowaa.org/ is an organization that delivers meals to homebound seniors on a daily basis.  We substitute drive on a route sometimes, so are familiar with the routine of picking up boxed meals and delivering them to seniors around our community. Today we arrived at our church to find several families we know working in the kitchen, preparing and packing the meals we were to deliver.  Taking a fresh, homecooked Thanksgiving dinner to someone who wouldn't otherwise have one. Isn't that what this day is all about ?  In doing something for others, we realize how truly blessed our own lives are.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone !
