50 Years of Wedded Bliss

Today is my parent's 50th wedding anniversary.

Fifty years is a long time !  I am typically awful about remembering my parent's anniversary.  It usually goes something like my mom usually calling to tell me what they are doing to celebrate and I say Happy Anniversary.  I know this bugs my mother, who never forgets a birthday, holiday or anniversary.  With the help of my sister and husband, this year is going to be different.

Not only are we remembering my parent's anniversary, we are having a party.  A surprise party !  We selected a beautiful and unique venue, planned a vow renewal ceremony and gathered up family and friends to share the evening with us.

I know my parents are going to be surprised.  We have never done anything like this for them before.  I hope they will be delighted.  There are so many good things that have happened along the way to tonight's event, this party is not just a celebration of my parent's fifty years of marriage.  It is a demonstration of love, frienship and collaboration.  I am so excited I can hardly stand it.

I've typed up a minute by minute agenda for the party that starts in just five minutes.  Yes, it is 11:25 am as I write this.  You can't start too early ! The sun is shining, everyone is ready and the clock is about to start ticking on the surprise.  Time for my daughter and I to head out for preparty manicures.

It is going to be a great celebration of marriage, family and friendship.  Cross your fingers that I can keep my little guy is his suit until the ceremony is over.
