In the overblown (and hopefully soon blown over) “mommy-wars” we are forced into one of two camps: working mothers and stay-at-home mothers. But what about Switzerland? What about those of us who work (full or part time) from home while managing to keep children at home with us? The full-time-working-stay-at-home mothers…where is our support group?

I am a full time working mother (psychiatric research) who happens to work from home. My son is home P/T with me and I am expecting again in December, meaning 2 kids at home and a 40 hour work week. This is a privilege but also a curse. By working from home I also became the default “stay-at-home” parent responsible for 99% of child rearing, cooking, cleaning, house managing.   If the grass isn’t greener on one side of the hill compared to the other, what makes us think it’ll be any better straddling the two? How do you navigate professional, personal, parental and marital boundaries when your kitchen table is also your office?
