I miss sleep.
My kids are 6 ½ and 5 now, so you would think that I would be getting enough sleep now. Not the case. My oldest has always been a good sleeper, even when she was a baby with colic. She would go to sleep at 10 and not get up until at least 6. Even now it’s rare she gets up at night.
My youngest is a different story. She wasn’t a horrible sleeper as a baby, but she usually woke up at least once. And at 5, she is still getting up almost every night at least once to go to the bathroom. Don’t get me wrong, I am happy that she wakes up to go to the bathroom, but the interrupted sleep is killing me. She always has to come get me and tell me that she has to go to the bathroom. Even if she didn’t, I still would wake up. I think that as moms, we are just light sleepers. I wake the minute I hear the door knob to their room turn.
Here’s to hoping for at least 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep soon. Until then, I guess I will just keep up my stock of coffee and Diet Coke.
