Today I had the Awesome opportunity to work with Carol Evans. She is President of Working Mother Media. While preparing Carol for her television shot, I got a chance to learn a little bit about who she was and what she did. She has a GREAT magazine called….you guessed it, Working Mother. Now, I know you are saying, what the heck does a magazine about working Mothers have to do with beauty? More specifically, Nophotoshopbeauty. Well, here it goes. There are not many things more beautiful than a Mother mothering her child/children. If you watch closely you will see an exchange of love so surreal and unconditional that it will blow you away. Sometimes its unspoken but, most times it’s in action and deed. THAT is what I find beautiful. Motherhood is unscripted and has its challenges and many rewards. We see photos of celebrities with their baby fat completely gone after 3weeks!! **~~** blank stare. (We all should all be afforded a Nanny and a Chef!) They bask in the sun frolicking around with their tanned and toned bodies with their babies and lavish lifestyles. (Don’t get me wrong they work their butts off too! However, they have access to all the latest and greatest). Everything LOOKS perfect and can make the average Mom feel a little intimidated.
Everyday Moms live in a world that is not Photoshopped, scripted or staged. Mothers are often the last thing to do, on the TO DO LIST! Our hair is often in need of a trim, our makeup is so old that it has become a trend again! Working Mother Magazine speaks to many areas of our life. From the hottest makeup foundations to getting a marble out of your child’s stomach and everything in between. Juggling work and motherhood is hard work and isn’t always pretty. Kudos to Carol Evans for offering a helping hand!
In honor of working Mothers everywhere, here are a few makeup tips to keep you current and confident!
1. Moisturizer, moisturizer, and more moisturizer. No need to look like a Mom just because you are one. Many moisturizers come with a luminescent in them, so they give your skin a great glow. Your skin looks more youthful and healthy.
2. A concealer is a working Mom’s best friend. No need to look like you stayed up with your baby all night. Apply the concealer with your fingertips. It will warm by the heat from your fingers and go on smoothly. *My absolute favorite concealer is by Amazing Cosmetics. It really is AMAZING! You only need a little and it last all day and goes on smoothly and has phenomenal coverage.
3. Mascara is YOUR FRIEND!! Nothing pops your eyes quicker than a couple of quick coats of mascara. Switch it up and try some colored mascaras to compliment your eye color. * Switch out your mascara every three months. Bacteria can build up quickly. It doesn’t matter if you use it sparingly or often. Switch it out!
4. Blush is a great way to perk up your look. Corals, soft pinks and berry will always be in! You can’t go wrong! *No clowns allowed in this circus! Apply your blush with a light hand. You can always build the color. If you have applied to much, go over it with your face powder to soften the look.
5. Don’t just stick to the same lip color you always use. I believe every woman can wear any color. You just have to find the right hue. You may not be able to wear Siren Red but you may be able to wear a shade of red that has more orange in it than blue.
Whatever job you have, none will be more important than being a Mom. While at work, you may spend your days trying to find a cure for the cold but finding that time to invest in your child/children will yield rewards greater than you could ever imagine! My job is to help you look and feel fabulous while your doing it!
