Last week I wrote about giving up Diet Coke as my next step to health. It had become my crutch in lieu of giving up my beloved Starbucks chai latte. (Oh, don’t be jealous Diet Coke, I’ll always love you, too – maybe too much.)
Just like with the chais, the cokes have been hard at first to avoid. I slipped a few times, especially on my many travels. But I’m forging forward and making new choices when it comes to beverages, just like I now do with my food. I’m planning ahead, making better choices and drinking a lot more flavored water.
My other goal with giving up the Diet Coke is to drink less caffeine and get more sleep. That sleep goal is going to be a much tougher personal health nut to crack for this working mom (because I’m betting you’re pretty dang busy, too.) But it’s also a heads up to something we’re thinking about for our October issue of Working Mother: How to make sleep more of a priority for us, for our families, and even for our employers.
As I say, a tough nut to crack! But as always, I’ll see what really works for me and will report back!
Until next week…
