How to Create a Personal Brand Image

I love color! And throughout my life, I’ve used it to get motivated, to wind down, and to inspire my creative mind. Color sets the mood in a room. It defines sports teams and countries. It triggers a person to buy a product. And it can be used by working mothers to create a personal brand image at home and at work.

I’m a blue and orange mom. Although, I have my days where I have a little red, making me have to count to ten quite often. And I have other days where I have a little purple, causing me to have the mommy blues. But most days, I’m your blue and orange mom ready to create and communicate what I’ve created. Blue has been found to give off an energy vibe (a feeling and perception) of confidence. In fact, fitness centers paint their walls the color blue, because it has been proven that people can lift a larger quantity of weight in blue rooms. Blue also creates a feeling of trust, making it a great color to wear for job interviews. And research has found that putting a blue light in your refrigerator or eating off of blue plates can help curb your appetite. As for orange, it’s a warm and friendly color. Orange is a color that stimulates creativity, which makes it an excellent color to incorporate in an art room, brainstorming room, and marketing department.

So how can a working mother use color to create their personal brand image?

1.      First, determine how you want others to perceive you at work and also at home. For instance, if you want others to see you as a nurturer and feel more relaxed around you, incorporate greens into your warddrobe.

2.      Then refer to the color descriptions below to identify the colors that will create the vibe of your personal brand image.

3.      Lastly, begin incorporating those colors in your life. One way is by wearing those colors. Another, which requires a little more time and energy, is painting a room or two in your home in those colors. And a third is simply getting pens, pencils, and post-it notes in your personal brand image colors.

Of course there are a lot of other ways to incorporate your personal brand image colors in your life. Start off simple and make sure these colors are the colors that tell the world who you are!

Below are eight colors that you can use to begin creating your personal brand image.

Red – It’s a color that creates action! It energizes. This color symbolizes building security and safety in your life such as buying a home, clothing and food. Red is a great color to wear if you want to be noticed. However, be careful because too much red can actually increase your heart rate and blood pressure. If you are temperamental, you want to limit yourself from wearing the color red.

Orange – It is a warm and friendly color. The color orange promotes freedom of expression through creative outlets such as painting, scrapbooking and dancing. If you are looking to appear more friendly and social, wear the color orange.

Yellow – It is the color of thought and intellect. Schools paint their walls a soft yellow to promote learning and thinking. If you are attending school or are a teacher, you may find that you are drawn to more yellow tones. When selecting the right yellow tone, remember that bright yellow can be over stimulating on the mind. In fact, it’s been found that babies cry more in yellow rooms.

Green – It is the color of balance, healing and health. The color green promotes healing. Many people in the healthcare field are drawn to the color green because it mirrors who they are and their chosen profession. It also is a color that calms people.

Blue – It is a color of communication and confidence. The color blue allows you to express your emotions. It is an excellent color to wear for a job interview. Not only will the employer perceive you as more confident, but also there will be this aura of trust and loyalty about you.

Purple – It is a color of spirituality, vision and wisdom. It’s a color that allows one to relax and go into a deep meditative state. It’s not a motivating color. And as a result, if you are exposed to too much purple, you may even fall into a depressive state.

Black – It has no color. It gives off an energy vibe of mystery and power. It is the most popular color in fashion. Many people are drawn to the color black when they are in a phase of questioning who they are and what they want to do for the rest of their life.

White – White comprises all the colors of the rainbow. It is truth and honesty. White is clean and fresh. It’s a great color to use when cleansing. It represents truth, purity, balance, honesty, cleansing, rebirth and sterile.
