At Merry Maids, we know it is imperative to provide great cleaning that is also safe. Our line of maintenance products, Shineffective, was designed for the environment to keep you and your family safe. A clean house has cleaner air because we care not only about the planet but also about the people and animals that inhabit it.

What do I do first?

Harmful chemicals are the leading ingredients in many consumer cleaning products, so check your pantry first. To reduce your health risks, toss products that include these common toxic ingredients:

  • Chlorine bleach – This can irritate that lungs and eyes
  • Ammonia – This is poisonous when swallowed, and can severely damage your respiratory passages when inhaled
  • Sodium Hydroxide – This is common in oven and drain cleaners. It can irritate your eyes, nose and throat and can even burn on contact.

Great article; with so many natural and non-toxic cleansers around it is a wonder harsh and abrasive (and more expensive) chemicals are still used. Vinegar, bleach, and baking soda come to mind as great natural cleansers. You can view a few green cleaning solutions here: http://www.collegegirlcleaningservice.com/blog/green-cleaning-tips/
