I am a working entrepreneur who has run a successful staffing business for 25 years. I manage 50 people daily, and I am the visionary for the company. At the end of the day, everything ultimately falls on me. This business has defined who I am and has been my greatest love for a quarter of a century. It has also provided me with a deep sense of purpose, gratification, and a great amount of humor. Some of my funniest and greatest stories come from the years I have spent in this business climate engaging with a diversity of people from all levels of the corporate world. I am also a mother and wife. I believe that I hold three full time jobs, each having different demands with never ending to-do lists while laughing and crying along the way.
I feel incredible today as I finally realize that I am normal (well, take that in context). I just read an article titled "Promiscuous Fitness" stating that driven women are continually pushing themselves to the max on workouts and divorcing them just as sw ... Read more...
There can’t be a harder job on earth – being a working woman executive – I am certain of it. Has anyone taken a poll? Can somebody call Nielsen? I am living proof and there’s plenty more of us! In my most humble of opinions, working women executives trying to balanc ... Read more...
My husband is a lovely man who truly inspires and supports me in everything that I do. About eight years ago he introduced me to a personal trainer that was a friend of his from many years past. I guess he decided that it was time for me to stop telling people that ... Read more...

Let’s face it now and then we all lose our temper. I’d like to think that I am well balanced enough where it doesn’t happen often – but I am human. I often tend to dwell on the disrespect that others put upon people and the small things that people do to make the wo ... Read more...
I read a great article the other day on Ann Curry from the Today show. To be perfectly honest, I never was a huge fan – I am more of the Meredith Vieira type but I have a new appreciation and admiration for her after this article. Like me, I would think that most of ... Read more...
I continue to learn from and be taught by my daughter daily...and now apparently her friends. This weekend we had a great group of girls and boys over our house. Our home seems to be the main attraction, the magnet house that seems to draw them all in from near and ... Read more...
Seven years ago, when I turned 40 years old, I felt like an elephant had repeatedly stampeded over me. I used to hit the snooze button on the alarm clock until I was certain I could hear it murmur “Really?”, and I drank pots of coffee just to get myself through the ... Read more...
I don't know about you ladies but I am a "Type A, Control Freak" with a splash of "OCD" - just enough to be a good quality when properly dosed. Control is part of being a good Manager but not necessarily a good feature when working with a teenage girl who has a mirr ... Read more...
Some nights I come home dragging my tail. I find if I come home after 8pm the only one grateful is my dog Sam as I have gone past the time whereby I provide to be a useful resource to my family. They have had to scrounge up a meal on their own (generally my husband ... Read more...
