Hump Day Health Tip: Drink Plenty of Water

As summer approaches, and we’re gearing up for some of the hottest days of the year it is critical that we moms stay hydrated. And, what better way to ensure proper hydration than with the healthiest drink on the planet, good ol’ fashioned, water.

Water is the main component of the human body, making up about 60% of our weight.  So, it’s no wonder that water is essential to every system in our body.  The daily recommendation for H20 varies, depending on the climate where you live, your health, and your activity level, so unfortunately, there is no straightforward answer.  The Institute of Medicine recommends that every woman should have a total of 9 cups of total beverage per day.  Taking that average need into account, most of our liquid consumption should consist of pure water, and because we lose water constantly it is imperative that we replenish it constantly.

Water is simply the most amazing drink ever created.  And, if you’re not getting the requisite amount you’re doing your body a grave injustice.  Check out my top three, wonderful water benefits, below:

1.    It Eliminates Waste – Water flushes toxins out of crucial organs, and it is necessary for proper digestion.  It also maintains normal bowel function and prevents constipation.

2.    It Helps Control Weight – This no-calorie drink creates a filling of fullness that prevents us from adding unnecessary calories to our bodies.  Because drinking water suppresses appetite, we naturally eat less when there is enough of this vital nutrient in our system.

3.    It’s Good for Our Skin – When our bodies are dehydrated it produces dry skin and contributes to acne issues.  Water helps to replenish skin tissues, moisturize our skin, and increase skin elasticity.  The result: a clearer complexion, more vibrant tone, and a more youthful-looking appearance.

To some, water is just a boring drink that takes a backseat to other fun and fruity fluids, but to your body it’s the most vital drink that that you could provide, and it is an absolute necessity for good health.

So, here’s to all the moms out there who’ll join me in drinking the best drink ever created - - water.  Believe me, your bodies will love you for it.
