What If You Followed the Truth of Your Heart?

What If You Followed the Truth of Your Heart?

Where would YOU go and who would YOU be if you followed the truth of your heart? Your choices determine your destiny.

Years ago I lived in Asia, where I met my soul mate while I was married. I had been happily married for two years, until my friend, Aimee, introduced me to my soul mate, who turned my world upside down. Instantly and forever.

When he shook my hand I heard the familiar voice of my Soul say, “This is the man of your life. He is The ONE.” I answered back that I was married and wasn’t looking for anyone else. The only thing I heard back from my Soul was, “Trust me, it’s him.”

The truth is very simple and profound.

To make matters more complicated, he lived in Taiwan and I lived in Singapore. The place we met was in Jakarta, Indonesia. We were both Dutch, but that was the only easy part.

Clearly destiny isn’t concerned about location.

A long story short, I followed my heart and left my husband in Singapore. People around me were devastated. Needless to say, that was very painful for both of us. I wasn’t leaving my husband because our marriage wasn’t good. I left him because I followed the truth of my heart. Even though I had only known my soul mate for 4 days.

“What if it doesn’t work out and you leave your marriage, your friends, your job, your country, and everything you love?” they said. Nobody understood that I couldn’t come up with “good” reasons.

The choices of your heart aren’t logical; the path of your Soul doesn’t make sense to your mind.

But what would have happened if I had ignored the voice of my Soul? For sure, things would have been different. Our five beautiful children wouldn’t have been born, and I wouldn’t be writing to you now, and so on.

Imagine if I had kept my dream unexplored? I know you might be thinking that other good things would have happened. Or not.

It doesn’t matter. What matters is that you are in charge of your own destiny. You can choose to follow the path that leads to nowhere or the path that leads to YOU.

Your inner GPS is your Soul’s compass, which knows the fastest road to your dream. The truth of your heart knows what and where that is.

This year, 2012, is YOUR year to be ruthlessly honest with yourself. Explore the uncharted territory of your path, because your power to live the life you want awaits you.

What if you followed the truth of your heart? Where would you go, and who would you be?

“Pilgrim, how you journey on the road you chose
to find out why the winds die and where the stories go.

All days come from one day; that much you must know. You cannot change what's over, but only where you go.

One way leads to diamonds, one way leads to gold; Another leads you only to everything you're told.

In your heart you wonder which of these is true;
the road that leads to nowhere, the road that leads to you.”
