Bug, Bug, Go Away!

Posted on January 05, 2012

Well, I definitely intended for my first blog to be something profound and completely light-hearted, but plans change. I've been sick for over 24 hours with a nasty bug that's totally laid me out. It was bad enough to have to call in to work, but the hubs and I had planned to keep the little buddy out of daycare yesterday, which meant the hubs had total baby duty. So, as hard as it was, I was quarantined to the bedroom while listening to my little boy and his daddy play and have fun just one room away. As I laid there, all I kept doing was kicking myself for not taking care of myself because look at the wonderful moments I was missing. Then, in the middle of my sickness and pity party, I realized how crazy that was. The buddy was having an awesome time with his daddy, and I was getting to be a fly on the wall! So, as I fell asleep listening to my boys play and laugh together, I was suddenly extremely thankful for that opportunity. Could I have done without the awful sickness? FOR SURE!! But it gave me the priceless experience of listening to my baby and his daddy interact, which was such a gift. I'm feeling better today and life is getting back to normal, but knowing that the buddy and his daddy have such a special bond, that is something I treasure.

Several years ago , I would have been completely jealous of you hearing your son and his dad playing together. Or even having a husband that respects and cares enough to allow you to rest and get better while you are sick. After a new marriage, I can understand exactly how you feel now. It's a wonderful feeling to know that even when you're not feeling good, your child is being taken care of, and more importantly, loved.
