Debi Silber (aka The Mojo Coach) is not only a highly credentialed health and weight-loss expert, but also on of our inspiring WorkMom bloggers on workingmother.com. (You can read her blog here. So when my personal mojo started to wane this week, who better to reach out to?

When motivation seems to wane, it’s helpful to do a few things.

You’ve know I’ve been excited about this journey, right? I’ve gotten to speak on TV about it, blog here about it — heck, I’ve even made myself the cover of Working Mother!

Study Says Over-Thinking Things Can Make You Sick

Posted on April 09, 2013

Yikes! Another possible bad habit is already starting to brew in my life all because of this article, This Bad Habit Could Make You Sick that I read on www.foxnews.com. For the past couple days, I can’t stop over-thinking things, which is stressing me out!

Downsized Again

I just found out my job is being outsourced. The whole department is being transferred out of state, and with spouses and kids and aging parents, most of us, myself included, can't just pick up and move, so...

In a little less than 2 months, I will be joining the ranks of the unemployed, unless I land a new position before then. I'm worried, and I'm also sad. I've worked at the same place for more than 15 years, and most of my coworkers have been here nearly as long.

Week 9: Liz’s Response: Weight Loss is our Decision to Make!

I love how Jennifer writes that she is excited about what might happen when she sticks with this, instead of if she sticks with it. Sticking with a healthy eating program is in your control. It is just a decision to make, and a mindset to stick with. The fact is, for most people we are the only ones who put food in our mouths. So weight loss is ultimately a decision that we can own. You can do this. You can surround yourself with healthy food choices. You can bring your lunch to work. You can pack healthy snacks.

Week 9: Could This Really Be Working?

Still busy (so busy!) at work these days – and so busy at home. We’ve been doing some renovation work that seemingly never ends and always fills every waking moment of the weekend.

And yet, I’m finding time to move – and I’m sticking to my eating plan. AND I’ve lost 8 pounds.

Could this really be working?

Me vs. Me

Me vs. Me

The winner of this round is yet to be undecided.

Thankfully, this particular battle has nothing to do with working mom guilt. No, this is the war between who I am when I act in accordance to my upbringing and who I am when I make a conscious effort to break free of my upbringing.

I’m talking in riddles. I apologize.

Week 8: The Momentum Builds

Things have settled down and I’m just my normal busy right now. I’ve been able to refocus on my eating, I’m tracking my food and I’m back to the gym on Fridays. I’ve even kept up my leg-lift workouts during conference calls. (Yes, I do look a little silly!)

I’m feeling really good about the eating. I know this isn’t news, but I am feeling better. I have my planned snacks on hand, so that even on the days where I can’t get to lunch until 3 p.m., I have something to nibble on in between. That’s really helping to keep me sane and not starved.

Home Sick²

Home Sick²

Home sick to the second degree. That’s how I’ve felt this past week. I have literally been at home sick this week with a stomach bug. And while it’s not a pleasant experience, I could account for the physical aches, pains and general discomfort. But it didn’t explain my mood, which was downright pathetic. I’m not a very good patient anyway. Just ask my husband. I enjoy rest, but not forced rest. While I should have just lain back and enjoyed some overdue reading and couch vegging, I found myself unsettled and distracted.

Lean On: Finding Support as a Working Mom is Critical

By now you have heard about Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg’s new book Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead.  Love or hate the book, it is wonderful we have a national dialogue about working women!  Rather than focusing on leaning in for the duration of my 700 or so words here, I’d like to stress the importance of leaning on.
