The Cap and Gown Dilemma

The Cap and Gown Dilemma

For some, the dilemma is what to wear underneath their cap and gown. For others, the dilemma is making sure their cap doesn’t fall or ensuring the tassel stays in the correct side. And for a few, the dilemma is focusing on not falling as they walk across the stage.

Defending Our Cubs

Defending Our Cubs

A bear got poked last Monday and it was pretty much the last straw. And folks should be on high alert because this bear is no garden variety grizzly - this bear eats grizzlies for breakfast. I'm talking about Mama Bears. We got poked and now we are angry.

Okay, first we were weepy or numb. Maybe we threw ourselves a pity party because we felt so helpless and hopeless. But no, I'm going with weepy. Any mother who saw the picture of eight-year-old bombing victim Martin Richards holding up a sign reading "no more hurting people". We all put ourselves in his parents shoes and wept.

How Can an Ordinary Mom Get Published?

I’m a creative person who likes to think outside the box. Yet, in the publishing world there are so many boxes without windows and rules you need to follow inside the box.

And then on top of it, publishers and literary agents won’t give you the time or day unless you are a celebrity (which it’s pretty obvious an ordinary mom isn’t), have published before (that is what I’m trying to do) or know someone in the industry (how is this going to happen if I can’t talk to them?).

How to Upload a YouTube video to Pinterest

For the past week, I have been learning so much about how to work with videos. For the novice blogger, this can be a whirlwind of new information so I have decided to dedicate a few blog posts to this subject.

3. Copy the URL that is directly below the Share Button

Thank you, Facebook.

As an Employer, I Believe Flexibility Works

By now, you have probably engaged in social media, water cooler or mom’s group talk about Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo, and her infamous “no working from home” edict to her employees.  I have watched this debate and media coverage from the sidelines over the last couple of weeks and now want to share my two cents on how I lead.

The Lowdown on the Lipid Panel

Posted on February 25, 2013

Cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance found in our body cells and our blood. We need cholesterol, as it aids in digestion, hormone, bile acid and vitamin D production and more. We get cholesterol from two sources. Our liver makes it and the rest we get through the foods that we eat.

Which foods have it? If it has a tail, a face, a wing, a gill, a hoof, a mommy or comes from one of these, it has cholesterol. If it comes from the ground, it’s cholesterol free.

Out to Lunch {for five months}!

Hello out there in blog land! It's been a long...LONG time, hasn't it?! Hopefully you've missed reading my musings at least a little. I know I certainly have missed sharing my nonsense with all of you!

Life has been beyond crazy for this mama! We uprooted our family, moved in with my parents, started new jobs and are anxiously awaiting the completion of our new house. God bless my parents, they are saints for putting up with us {me, really}...but still, ANXIOUSLY awaiting...
