Change is harder than you expect

Change

What is it:  A substitute of one thing for another.

Why it’s Important:  Without forward progress you’ll be stuck in the past perfectly suited for a reality that no longer exists. People are missing the boat.  Change is the only constant we have and it’s here for a very good reason:

We need to be flexible enough to change our behavior when new and better information becomes available.

What Will My Kids Say About Their Childhood?

Posted on February 08, 2012

Years ago, I read The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. Not because I wanted to necessarily be more effective, but because everyone else in management consulting was reading it (so it HAD to be good, right?). While a lot of the book was lost on me, the opening sticks with me to this day. If you had to write your own obituary, what would it say? Would it focus on your professional accomplishments and accolades?

The Pink Suite - Redefining Success

I recently read an article in Financial Post called Key to women entering the C-suite may just be a hero. I hate the idea of needing a hero to sweep the damsel safely into the palace i.e. C-suite. 5 Factors To Consider In Choosing The Right Business For You...

Once upon a time it was a scary time.  The entrepreneur in me had finally decided it had just about enough.  No more stifling cubicles, no more ignorant bosses stealing credit, no more fighting the “corporate white man” syndrome.  Enough.  I was done.  But what was I going to do?

Bracing for impact

It is next-to-impossible to relax when you are constantly bracing for impact.

Let me explain.

Over the past few weeks, I've been reflecting on the need for more peace in my life - particularly in my home. By peace, I really mean quiet, stillness, lack-of-busyness-and-general-hysteria. A tall order with two-under-the-age-of-five, but a noble goal nonetheless.

So much love coming from America!

I cannot begin to convey the amount of "goodie" boxes that are pouring in from the United States for the holidays.  Last week we received LIVE Christmas Trees from a Dees Nursery in Oceanside - what a morale boost!

To all the working moms out there - I leave you with this story.

A Girl in School Will Become a Woman in Charge

Earlier this week, I was honored to speak at Working Mother’s Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility and Women. It was a forum full of intelligent, enthusiastic women, all of whom are changing the world in different ways…the energy in the room was electric.
