I've come to the conclusion there is not enough caffeine in the Greater Phoenix area to keep me going this weekend.

The Meaning of Work

Posted on October 17, 2012
Lately, my 7 year old has started to ask a lot of questions, in different ways, about whether or not I work. Last week she asked, "Mom, do you go to work or are you an at home Mom?" My response? " I work sometimes." I couldn't do it. I couldn't say what I knew I should have said: "I used to work but I'm not working right now." Yesterday she asked me to go on her class field trip to the pumpkin patch. "You can, you're a House Mom." Two words - House Mom - hit me like a ton of bricks, made all the more weighty by my daughter's awareness of, and insistence on, defining my work status.

Would you change anything if you could go back?

Ever asked yourself this question, or find that someone has just asked you?  When it has happened, do you answer honestly?  I mean really honestly, in the way you would if there were no repercussions from offended kids, husband, co-workers or friends?

Glastonbury Chiropractic Has My Back

Skeletons abound this time of year, but what about our own bones?  How can we keep our bones healthy aside from consuming Calcium rich foods and beverages? This summer I learned a valuable lesson about bones from Dr. Jamie Lemeck of Glastonbury Chiropractic. I have been a patient at this office for the past seven years, where they take excellent care of my spine, which sometimes endures up to seventy miles of pounding per week, depending on what event I am training for. This past summer I noticed a sharp pain in my foot after jumping off the side of a swimming pool.

Desperately Seeking Sisters

In seventh grade I transferred to a new school. It was a much bigger school than the tiny Catholic grade school I had attended since I was six years old. The new school, Boston Latin Academy, had grades seven through twelve and drew in kids from every part of Boston.

Too Busy To Be!

What is the cost of efficiency? I recently started to realize that although I value efficiency and organization, I have lost some experiences along the way due to my commitment to my LIST.

Being a good parent is hard. Being a control freak and trying to be a good parent is damn-near impossible.

Let me explain.

Top Ten Signs You Are A Working Mom

10. When parking your car, the pre-pubescent valet drives away smirking as he noticed both the Wall Street Journal and your son's stuffed bunny riding shotgun.

9. You are constantly picking grass from the previous night's soccer game out of your four-inch heels.

8. You have a Sibyl-like reaction when booking an out-of-town business trip as you experience utter elation at the prospect of a few kid-free days and utter despair over the very same thought.
