 I have a few pet peeves.  I happen to hate when people use the word “utilize” in an effort to be fancy, when “use” is correct.   I mean really, when is the last time you utilized a nail file as a screwdriver and needed to talk about it?

Workplace Flexibility: Vital for Working Mothers & Mothers-to-be

One of the most important things a workplace can do to support working mothers and mothers-to-be is to provide for flexibility. In my last few blogs for WorkingMother.com I’ve mentioned the difficulties I’ve faced while working full-time and being pregnant. Early in my pregnancy I went through three months of non-stop nausea that was debilitating and made getting through each work day a big challenge.

Just Start!!

Just Start!!

There are things I learned over the years I wish I had appreciated earlier. One of those is to “just start.” It sounds deceptively simple. But it is hard. I am generally a perfectionist and want to do it well. I wait for the right moment or enough time – both are generally concepts rather than reality in my life. Motherhood provided a good example the power of just starting. As I blogged about previously, I did try to wait for "the right time" there too.
